ALL STUDENTS! I must receive your first homework assignment via email by January 28, if not, you will be dropped.

If for some reason you cannot turn in the first assignment by then, YOU MUST contact me STATING YOU WISH TO STAY IN THE CLASS (an email from you) by January 27 (Friday) OR YOU WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE ROSTER on January 30th.


If at any time during the semester you fall behind 3 assignments, or miss 3 classes or more during the semester without extenuating circumstances, I will drop you.


Mandatory for ALL STUDENTS:

Introductions; syllabus review and expectations; the textbook, online resources, and the Mac interface; the textbook CD and use of image files and lessons; the “nearly-paperless” course modality; use of Photoshop in the design industry—digital imaging as a design tool; quick tour of Photoshop

Assignment:

Buy a USB Flash drive to keep and transfer files if necessary; buy Exploring Photoshop CS5 and read Preface and Chapter 1: A Discovery Tour; complete lesson: The 15-Minute Photo Makeover assignment (page 4)

Graphic Design New Basics: READ the Forward and all pages up thru the chapter on Point, Line, Plane (pages 1-27).

What’s Due?
(this first assignment is due next week, Jan. 25-26, depending on your class section.

Each week our class website will have a “What’s Due?” paragraph with all specifics, changes, etc. Cool. So then...

Email me, to my homework email, the file you create on Page 11, Step 6, of Exploring Photoshop, it will be a file called masterbed.jpg. Make sure you follow all the proper instructions in submitting your homework, listed in this syllabus.

Access to Adobe Photoshop CS5 is required for this course.
It is installed on our Design Lab computers.
It is available at a substantial discount for California Community College students

HOW DO YOU TURN IN YOUR ASSIGNMENTS?

You will consolidate all files, folders, documents, into a folder, then ZIP the folder and email me the ZIP file as an an attachment... The folder will be named name_330_chapter#. If your email supports it, you can email me the folder as it is, unzipped, but things get messed up over the internet sometimes. I will get back to you typically within a few days that I received it.
