Review of Literature

Before any action research is conducted, a search of relevant literature is performed. The goal of my review is to introduce you to my research by introducing you to my area of focus. My goal is to synthesize for you what has been written about my area of focus and provide critical and substantive information regarding previous studies on my subject matter.

Enhancing Higher Education Learning with Online Social Networks

In many schools and workplaces, current social media tools, such as texting, Facebook, MySpace, online chat, et al, are viewed as distractions and time wasters by educators and employers. Many institutions have gone so far as to ban usage of these Web 2.0 websites and technologies entirely while on campus or at the workplace.

In this review, I will survey what is currently known about this rapidly changing and evolving field of online social media tools, and their pedagogical potential in education.

While called many names, social media networks are morphing into online social learning networks, and I will explore their use in creating next generation solutions for blended learning.
