a WebQuest for high school and college students
Anti-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) harassment and bullying are endemic problems in American schools. It is often the weapon of choice for bullies, regardless of the bullied student’s sexual orientation. Yet many schools have not effectively addressed anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment.(1)
The fact that much discrimination against LGBT people is intangible or unconscious permits some well-meaning people to dismiss or ignore it. However, there is little doubt that this behavior not only puts LGBT students at a distinct educational disadvantage but also reinforces the feeling that the campus is unsafe.
In this WebQuest you will learn about the LGBT community and the equity issues they face. Your instructor will create groups of 4 students. Once you have researched this issue with the resource links and videos provided, and have gained a strong background knowledge, your group will, via the process page, create a campus activism campaign to create awareness of these important issues.
Make sure you watch the short videos and look at the other graphic examples throughout these pages. Next, let’s take a look at your specific task.
