This WebQuest is intended for 11th & 12th grade high school sociology students, and college students primarily in a lower division curriculum that addresses these issues. The following links will provide instructors with additional background information and pathways to a more in-depth exploration of this topic.
Unfortunately, because of the invisibility, it is often impossible to identify the lesbian and gay community at your school. Yet these are your students and additionally, they are their parents, relatives, and your fellow faculty, staff, and friends. This invisibility has led many of us to ignore the problem and a failure to design a curriculum that will address these issues ~ similar to the curriculum that has been developed to address the issues of other at-risk communities such as ethnic, racial, female or disabled groups.(1)
